The Fontologist is an AI-powered typeface recommendation engine. Enter any word or concept, and it returns curated font suggestions matched to the semantic character of your input — including style qualities, rationale, and match strength.

How many free queries do I get?

The free tier provides 3 queries per day. This resets automatically every 24 hours. No account is required.

What are the paid plans?

We offer one-time lifetime access plans for individuals, professionals, and agencies. Paid plans provide unlimited queries and priority processing. Visit The Fontologist for current pricing.

Does The Fontologist work offline?

The web app includes a pre-computed dataset covering thousands of words and concepts. If your query matches the dataset, results are delivered instantly without an internet connection. For novel queries, an active connection is required.

How does it work as a Canva App?

The Fontologist is available directly within Canva. Search for "The Fontologist" in the Canva Apps marketplace to install it. Once installed, you can query typeface recommendations without leaving your Canva design workflow.

Do I need to licence the recommended fonts separately?

Yes. The Fontologist recommends typefaces based on semantic fit. Licensing is separate — many recommended fonts are available through Google Fonts (free), Adobe Fonts (with Creative Cloud), or independent foundries. Always verify your licence before commercial use.
